Fantasy Football Roll Call: The Playoffs Edition

Your fantasy league’s playoffs are either upon you this week or next week. If you’re still chasing the crown and not stuck in the consolation round, there are still lights out players to grab off the waiver wire.
Quarterbacks:
Must Have: Ok so you dumped Vince Young now that Mike Vick is back and that Carson Palmer thing has been kind of mediocre. Dolphins signal caller Matt Moore has been very steady commanding the Dolphins offense over the past few weeks. Also of Note: Rex Grossman for this week and this week only as he faces the abysmal New England secondary. Resist: Tavaris Jackson may have beaten a dysfunctional Eagles team, but that does not mean that we suddenly start having his way week after week, even if he is facing the Rams.
Running Backs
Must Have: Mark Ingram has become the defecto number one back in New Orleans. He’s still splitting carries with Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles, but with PT on pure back-up duty and Sproles basically being the screen guy, Ingram has plenty of value for those who need a solid option late in the year.
Also of Note: Dexter McCluster is possibly a nice option. Then again he’s possibly not, but it’s week 14, the pickings are slim. Resist: Don’t fall into the Marion Barber trap. Mike Martz is still calling the plays and Barber has always been kind of gimpy.
Wide Receivers:
Must Have: Malcolm Floyd is back off of injury and providing a nice pick-me-up to the San Diego offense. If he is available go ahead and him “just because.” Also of Note: Demaryius Thomas came out of the 2010 draft class as a one-two punch with the enigma Tim Tebow. That pairing looks like they are starting to gel. Resist: Nate Burleson has been seeing more targets as of late BUT he’s not generating touchdowns and he is a penalty machine.
Tight Ends:
Must Have: Well there is no “must have” in the TE category that is probably still out there. So based on the probability of availability and match-ups, Ed Dickson and the Ravens are playing the Bad News Colts. Also of Note: Anthony Fasano gets plenty of looks from Matt Moore. Resist: Dustin Keller’s Jets may have played well as of late but so has KC’s defense in spite of their QB, whoever he may be.
Defense:
Must Have: Denver is SHOCKINGLY still widely available in many league. They are not only giving up minimal points, they are generating extra points by way of sacks and turnovers. Also of Note: Kansas City has for whatever reason has been playing at a higher level, especially at the Defensive End position. Resist: The Eagles may have the names and every now and then they generate a few turnovers here and there, but at this time of the year do you really want to play the feast or famine game?
