#2 Mets Pitcher Billy Wagner Gets His 300th Save
In 2006, Mets closer Billy Wagner became just the 20th pitcher in MLB history to earn 300 career saves.
“Like [Carlos] Delgado told me, it means that I’m getting old,” Wagner said, in regards to the accomplishment. “No, it’s special. It means a lot to me.”
At the time Wagner was on top of his game and the Mets were on top of their division.
Regardless of how Wagner’s stint with the Mets ended, on this day it was all good as Billy notched just one of 40 saves for the 2006 season.
