FLOWERY BRANCH — After leaving the Falcons Alge Crumpler bounced around as a journeyman TE playing for a variety of different teams such as the Titans and the Patriots.
Through it all, it was always weird to see him in another team’s uniform and he never quite played up to the level that he did when he was a Falcon.
Players are humans too and I always wondered out loud if Crumpler was the kind of guy that would only be at his best if was balling with his boys.
He was the check down outlet for Michael Vick. He also set-up the blocks for some of TJ Duckett’s and Warrick Dunn’s greatest runs.
It’s fitting that during tomorrow night’s draft he’s set to announce the team’s second round draft pick.
Depending on how the chips fall in the first, it looks like the Falcons will go offensive line. Wisconsin guard Peter Konz is a name that the front office likes.
It’s not the flashy position but for Crumpler to welcome a guy that will set-up others to look great, it’s the perfect call.
