Bail set in Chad Johnson’s domestic violence case.

Miami—The Miami Dolphins are presumably still reeling from the arrest last night of their WR Chad Johnson.

Johnson’s bail was set this morning at $2,500 according to the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel. Johnson has been ordered to stay away from his wife/reality star Evelyn Lozada.

According to local police, the pair engaged in an argument after Lozada found a receipt for prophylactics to presumably be used by Johnson on their way home from dinner at a local restaurant.

The argument obviously escalated and Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor domestic violence after he agedly head butted her in the driveway of their home after they exited the vehicle.

Johnson is claiming that she leaned into him during the argument and that the contact was accidental.

The arrest is the first for Johnson during his NFL career who at worst has been obnoxious but never mean-spirited.

This places the Dolphins in something of a quandary as with a new head coach in Joe Philbin setting a new tone for the team, a move will have to be made.

Johnson should make bail in time to attend to today’s scheduled practice with the team and have the opportunity to state his case.

The Dolphins can elect to drop him prior to the regular season and be off the hook for his base salary of $925,000.

From a football perspective the Dolphins would almost be shooting themselves in the foot to let Johnson go right now.

Philbin has become infamous over the past few days for chastising Johnson for his foul language but with Brian Hartline bouncing back from injury and the next guy down the depth chart being second-year man Julius Pruitt, it behooves the Dolphins to sit back and try to let this blow over.

There are two sides to every story and domestic violence is a black eye on humanity that must be dealt with harshly.

However, the team like all of us should let the sensational nature of this thing die down and wait for the facts.

It’s surprising that with the way they live their lives that there was not a camera crew present.

Lozanda’s temper and inclination to date athletes have been documented on the VH-1 reality program Basketball Wives as seen in the clip below that contains foul language.
