Ben Roethlisberger blames Buffalo’s stadium for DeCastro injury

Injuries in the NFL happen during every game and they are a way of life.  So it’s not very often when a player steps up and proclaims that it was the circumstances and not the game that took somebody out.

That’s exactly what Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is doing for his fallen comrade guard David DeCastro.

After the game he stated that the turf at Buffalo’s Ralph Wilson Stadium is the culprit as to why DeCastro may be out for a great deal of time.

“It’s just FieldTurf — this is a great field, but FieldTurf is just killing guys because they can’t get their feet out of the ground,” Roethlisberger said on NFL Network. “It’s just another reason we should get rid of FieldTurf.”

The debate as to whether FieldTurf is as good as or better than real grass is definitely out there.  In this mind, its understood why turf is rolled out but at the end of the day, grass is grass and regardless of the upkeep that is involved, grass is always the best solution.
