Beyonce will perform at Super Bowl 47

The Super Bowl halftime show has been for the most part a geriatric mess over the past decade. That is about to change.

The latest affair featured a decaying Madonna trying too hard to appear hip with features from the likes of Nikki Minaj set in a day-glo mess that to put it politely did nothing to appeal to the taste of the average football fan.

This initial rumor for this season’s Pepsi NFL Halftime Show was a reunited Van Halen. It made sense seeing the gig’s previous desire to employ classic rock icons such as The Who and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

It will not be made official until an announcement on Wednesday but Seattle PI is reporting that pop phenomenon Beyonce (and no doubt her husband Jay-Z) are confirmed to light up Super Bowl 47 in New Orleans on February 3, 2013 at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The show will be a good fit for what the Super Bowl has become. Beyonce has enough crossover hits to please the average person and her show is an incredible mixture of light and sound.

The moment will certainly not eat her alive as it has done with others. It’s a good choice.

Wow! A sports website thinks that pop music by a female is relateable to football, which is a violent sport with mpostly male fans.
