Giants GM Jerry Reece says Victor Cruz just had “one good year.”

Giants GM Jerry Reece has spoken to the media more this week than he has in recent memory. He started by throwing his hat in the ring with the Osi Umenyiora contract dispute. He is now saying that situation is not “personal.”
He moved on to addressing the running back situation after they drafted David Wilson in the first round.
Next up? Victor Cruz.
Cruz has done it all right this off-season. He stated that he would like more money but that he won’t hold out. He’s been the player ambassador for the team this off-season and he’s done it all with a smile. He even turned down Dancing With The Stars at the height of his salsa inspired mania.
According to the New York Post, Reece says he would be a natural fit for DWTS but now is not the right time.
“I think Victor would be good on that, Victor’s a smart guy, I think Victor wants to focus on football more than anything else right now,’’ Reese said. “He had one good year; one good year [doesn't] make you a great football player. It means you had one good year.
He’s a smart young man, I think he wants to focus on what’s most important, and that’s football. I think maybe at some point later on in his career he might be able to do that but right now I think he’s focused on trying to be a good football player.’
Hold up did he just say Cruz is not a great player? Even if there is some truth to the one good year thing, that certainly was not an assertive comment to make in regards to a guy that’s towing the company line.
