Kevin Kolb shines in game winning drive for Arizona Cardinals
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Kevin Kolb threw a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Andre Roberts and the Cardinals opened the season Sunday with a 20-16 victory over Seattle.
Kolb came into the game after starting quarterback John Skelton was injured in the fourth quarter. The severity of Skelton’s injury is still somewhat unknown but it seems safe to say that Kolb will have another chance to prove that he is capable of leading a football team.
During the game winning drive Kolb connected on 6-for-8 passes for 66 yards that culminated with a 6-yard TD pass to Roberts with 5 minutes remaining.
His counterpart rookie Russell Wilson almost put a dagger in his comeback dreams during a goal line stand that was aided by an extra timeout that the replacement referees afforded the Seahawks.
Wilson threw for 153 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 18-of-34 passing.
The Cardinals running game was very anemic and their offense as a whole was very erratic. Kolb has his work cut out for him if he is to be the one that will steady this ship.
As for Wilson and the Seahawks, veterans such as Sidney Rice and Braylon Edwards must help him out during clutch moments when games are won and lost.
