NBA Daily Digest: June 8, 2012

Gay To Stay: Yesterday, we discussed that the Raptors have their sites set on trading their number eight pick in the upcoming draft to either the 76ers for Andre Iguodala or the Grizzlies for Rudy Gay.

One part of the rumor appears to have been debunked by no less than the Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley in the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

“We’re not looking to trade Rudy Gay,” Heisley said. “We’re not shopping him around. Period. Do we sit around and say ‘What if we traded Rudy, who could we get?’ No. Right now, Rudy is part of the future of this team.”

Let’s see how fast the 76ers defuse this one.

Bosh Up In The Air: Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is holding his cards close to his chest in regards to whether or not he will start Chris Bosh for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Bosh played significant time in Game 6 and probably would have played more had the score not been so bloated. If I were putting money on it, I’d say Bosh will get the start.

Looking Rosey: Bulls power forward Taj Gibson recently discussed Derrick Rose’s rehab progress as the former MVP attempts to fight his way back into peak shape.

“I think he’s doing great,” said Gibson of Rose. “I think he’s improving quicker than people have expected him to improve. He’s in there every day and he’s pushing it to the limits every time I see him. I think he’ll come back even better than he was before.”

“He’s been pushing it and I saw him push through a lot of pain early. I look forward to seeing our team take that energy and use it as a positive. Because every day, he’s yelling and he’s screaming from putting in so much effort trying to get his knee back. We need to see how much pain he’s going through and feed off it, put it in our daily lives.”

These words are a long way off from the thought process that Rose may not be able to play at the start of the year.

King Me: The Sacramento Kings are not expected to extend Tyreke Evans deal. He’s technically eligible for the extension but now be may just be simply headed for the trading block.
