SEATTLE-After a phenomenal preseason run, the Seahawks have stepped up and named Russell Wilson as their starting quarterback for the immediate future.
“This is an extraordinary kid. He just kept knocking us out with what he brought,” Seahawks coach Pete Caroll said, via the team. “I’ve watched our team respond to him and they’ve taken to his leadership style.”
Wilson as reported here did some amazing things when given the opportunity to lead the first team against the Kansas City Chiefs during their third pre-season game.
As Wilson takes charge the rumors are running rampant that QB Tarvaris Jackson is heading from one extreme geographic point of the country to the other.
The Bills have according to NFL.com worked out a deal that will pry him away from the Seahawks.
As the reported new gun in the Buffalo Bills locker room, Jackson is going to assumingly squeeze out either Tyler Thigpen or Vince Young out of a job.
Neither backup has done a lot to win the number two job this preseason and it seems that coach Chan Gailey needs more security than either option has provided so far.
Jackson found himself on the bubble when he could not find away to fit into the mix in Seattle after they drafted wunderkind Russell Wilson and brought in free agent Matt Flynn.
The terms of the deal have not been released per the NFL but this effectively kills the talk that Jackson will end up in Cardinal red.
The Seahawks are cleaning house today as they also parted ways with wide receiver Terrell Owens.
As for Flynn, he’s back to the number two spot that he occupied while in Green Bay behind Aaron Rodgers.
