Titans starting Jake Locker over Hasselbeck is the right thing to do.

Allowing QB Jake Locker to start over the aging Matt Hasselbeck is the right thing to do. The Titans have a young group of skill players that need to gel together to grow and now that they know who their leader is they will only get better from here.
According to reports from Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, owner Bud Adams has stepped up and said “that’s my man.”
If Hasselbeck even had another three years on his tires and was less of a concern from an injury perspective, Locker’s mediocre performance over the weekend against the Buccaneers may have damned him for another year or so.
So what’s next?
Barring some crazy pre-season injury or extreme off-the-field incident, Locker is charged with starting his career off as a starter against a revamped New England Patriots defense on September 9.
It doesn’t get any harder than trying to beat Tom Brady in a track meet, but Locker is an athletic kid with a nose for winning.
Look for him to use his quick feet and his arm to try and get it done and in the immediate future, hopefully Hasselbeck will transition well into the mentor’s role and help guide Locker through the rest of the preseason matchups.
