Wayward Lions Titus Young and Nick Fairley return to OTAs

The Detroit Lions WR Titus Young recently made headlines for getting boxed out of the team’s OTAs for punching one of their defensive leaders Louis Delma during a previous session.
Today, he returns as his controversy is not the heaviest part of the fog that surrounds the team. In a statement he released through the Lions, Young’s words were remorseful.
“My recent actions have not always been up to the standards the Lions expect or the standards that I expect from myself. I am truly sorry for those times when I didn’t meet those standards.
“My absence from the practice facility and the OTAs last week was necessary for both myself and the team.
“The time away from the team afforded me the opportunity to reflect and come to the realization that by putting those incidents behind me I will be able to focus on becoming the best teammate and player that I can be.”
That’s great and all, but the second-year man out of Boise has a chance to really step-up and claim a spot as the best slot guy in the NFL.
His actions moving forward need to reflect this carefully prepared statement.
As for the other piece of negative business that the franchise is attending to, despite his DUI arrest over the weekend, DT Nick Fairley will also be on the field today.
The arrest is the second for Fairley this off-season as he is awaiting a July arraignment in regards to an April situation where he was charged with possession of marijuana.
Both of Fairley’s issues occurred in his home state of Alabama while he was away from the team.
