Each week the Top 25 teams in NCAA football ranked, adjusted and for some with unjustified losses replaced on the chart. Our Rapid Fire predictions serves up the most likely outcomes bullet-point style. Let’s get into Week Three.
# 1 Alabama at Arkansas
Arkansas lost to ULM. I don’t care how much bulletin board material that the coaches can tack up on the wall; there is nothing that can be said to this Razorbacks group that will inspire them to beat Alabama.
# 2 Southern California at # 21 Stanford
This game means a lot to Trojans’ quarterback Matt Barkley. USC has yet to be seriously tested but they will still nudge out a Stanford team that is on the rebound.
Idaho at #3 LSU
The Tigers lost four players due to academic ineligibility and they will still take their belt off to Idaho.
Tennessee Tech at # 4 Oregon
Oregon needs to stop playing scrimmages. This could be the blowout of the week.
Wake Forest at # 5 Florida State
WF has a weird grip over FSU having won most of their most recent meetings. This Seminoles group is done with all of that and will deliver a statement win.
Florida Atlantic at # 7 Georgia
FAU is so overmatched in this game that we might as well call this a bye week for the Bulldogs. Look for the stands to empty early between the hedges after the hometown crowd witnesses the tail kicking that they came for.
UAB at # 8 South Carolina
Will the potential absence of South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw make a difference in the outcome of this one? It could…but it won’t. Gamecocks get it done whether Shaw plays or not.
# 9 West Virginia vs. James Madison @ Landover, Md.
This has been one of the easiest weeks of college football that I have ever predicted. West Virginia thumps James Madison.
# 22 Notre Dame at #10 Michigan State
The buzz is in the air regarding ND’s move to the ACC that really won’t immediately impact their football program. ND will flirt with victory but Michigan State will pull it out.
Furman at #11 Clemson
WR Sammy Watkins suits back up after a two-game vacation for a drug arrest. His frustration will light up the scoreboard and Furman’s secondary.
